Cutting holes for electrical boxes can be a frustrating job if you don’t have the proper tools to do it. Cut the hole too small and you have to recut it or cut it too big and you’ve got another problem on your hands.
We want to show you how to correctly cut an electrical box opening using a single box cutter which will not only help you save time; but you’ll achieve the perfect cut every time without under or over cutting.
What is the SMART Box Cutter?SMART has designed a 75mm Single Box Cutter that’s used for cutting out single socket boxes in plasterboard. The cutter is simple and safe to use and provides a very clean and precise cut without the need for a pilot hole, even in confined spaces.
1. Level and mark
Hold the box against the hole and use a level to adjust the box to ensure it will sit level. Use a pencil to trace the outline of the box on the wall and use this outline as your line to cut.
2. Cut the hole
Attach the single box cutter to your multi-tool and position against the outline on the wall. With the cutter facing the wall, slowly push the cutter through the wall until the hole is created. The single box cutter will cut a single hole one at a time, but if you’re in need of a double or a triple hole simply line the cutter next to the hole and cut again.
