Cutting through Insulation Board ready to install electrical boxes.

Posted 21 Dec 2022

Anybody that works in construction, or any other trade, will frequently find themselves tackling insulation and foil-backed rigid insulation boards. Common tasks may be cutting out spaces for electrical boxes or trimming down panels to size so that they are fit for purpose.

There are many tools out there with the capability of cutting through all types of insulation. However, finding a tool that will achieve a clean, consistent result with minimal effort and no chance of breakages can be another matter. Here at SMART, we recommend our specialist “Insulation Buster” Blade which provides the flexibility and ease of use missing from other tools.

What is the SMART Trade Series 100mm Insulation Blade?

The SMART Trade Series 100mm Insulation Blade, or “The Insulation Buster”, is a uniquely designed addition to any multitool. The blade itself is a versatile attachment that allows for deep plunge cuts through insulation, contour cuts as well as precision cutting for more intricate work. The blade features an expertly designed sharp wavy edge for maximum speed and minimal flaking and dust creation. This gives it the edge over alternative tools that some might use such as a pad saw which will create a lot of dust and debris.

The blade is 28mm in width and has an ultimate cutting depth of the full 100mm of the blade. Cuts this deep can be difficult with simple blades like craft knives without risking the blade. The Insulation Buster is part of the SMART Trade Series and has a universal open-back fitment.
