Tough wallpaper removal with a multi-tool

Posted 25 Feb 2022

Many tradespeople need to remove old wallpaper from time to time. Depending on the paste that installer used, removing wallpaper is an easy task. However, some pastes can be resistant to scraping and traditional water-based removal methods, which can easily turn this relaxed task into an exhausting one. So, if you’ve scraped and scraped and you’re still dealing with stubborn leftover pieces, rest your aching arms and try this simple trick that’ll leave your walls damage and wallpaper free.

How to remove stubborn wallpaper

When working with older and solid wall houses, they’re much more likely to have very stubborn wallpaper and there are a range of methods to remove it. For example, soaking it with a water and vinegar solution, using a steamer or a putty knife to name a few. Whilst these are effective methods for a whole removal, they’re rather labour intensive when you’re dealing with tougher areas.

For this reason, SMART have developed a multi-tool accessory that makes tough wallpaper removal a breeze. Known as the Flexible Scraper blade, this blade is designed for a range of uses, with wallpaper removal being one of them. The Flexible Scraper blade is great when working on a solid surface as this allows the blade to work much more effectively. Generally speaking, you wouldn’t use this to remove a whole wall of wallpaper. However, if you’re left with tough pieces that won’t budge no matter how long it’s been soaked for, this is the perfect tool to quickly remove them.

This versatile blade can be used for this application very effectively and is designed to quickly remove old paint, carpet adhesive, silicone sealant and other soft compounds, making this the ideal tool for painters and decorators.
