How to cut a notch in stud work with a multi-tool

Posted 11 Mar 2022

When you’re putting up a stud wall you might sometimes find yourself needing to cut a notch into the wood stud to route pipes and wiring. While cutting notches in wood studs isn’t a complicated task, it helps to use a high-quality tool to achieve clean, fast cuts. Luckily, SMART have developed the 32mm Rapid Wood Blade which is ideal for quickly cutting notches.

What is the Rapid Wood Blade?

The award-winning Rapid Wood blade is a brilliant timber cutting multi-tool blade. Part of the ‘Rapid Wood’ blade range, this is designed for very quickly cutting through timber, much faster than a standard wood blade. The design includes a curved tip to provide maximum accuracy, along with a unique SMARTCUT design. This allows you to cut faster, neater and deeper than any other wood blade on the market. Even through 2-inch pieces of timber!

This also gives you a very smooth start without the directional pull of a standard wood blade. Therefore, increasing the accuracy of the cut.

The Rapid Wood blade is available in a 67mm blade depth or the standard 51mm blade depth. The 67mm Rapid Wood Blade is one of the longest wood blades on the market and optimises the cutting depth and quality of the cut. This tool is perfect for clean and accurate cuts in confined spaces, which would typically be a struggle with standard hand tools.

1. Measure and mark
